We have a great barista team here at the Long Room and we’d love for you to get to know us! We’re publishing a few posts featuring each member and little bio to boot. They have an amazing amount of experience in the coffee world and probably an interesting story or two to share.
Next up is barista, Darcy Nichols.
When I was 17 I convinced my older sister Delaney to give me my first coffee shop job. She was working at a new Chicago roastery and I wanted to be part of the mystique. I offered to work for free on weekends if they trained me on the bar and we could call it an “internship.”
Six years later I’m still working with Delaney. Within Chicago Ive worked with coffee programs sourcing roasteries such as Stumptown, Sparrow and currently, Counter Culture Coffee.
The Long Room so far has been a treat. We couldn’t be more pleased with the product and support of #counterculturecoffee and this is the first time we’ve had a real kitchen, a walk-in fridge and a full bar to take our beverage service to the next level!
